Excelloy 61S AC/DC +

Stud Removal

The ultimate “problem solver” for removing broken studs, taps, or drills regardless of alloy composition.

STUD REMOVAL PROCEDURE:

Strike Excelloy 61S directly in the center of the broken stud, drill, or tap. Do not strike the edge or side of the hole

Once the arc is initiated maintain a tight arc in the center of the weld pool

Weld in the center until you reach the top. Do not allow the weld deposit to fuse to the edge or side of the hole.

Continue until you have created a weld nub protruding above the surface of the hole

Chip away slag and place a nut over the nub

Weld that nub to the nut

Now simply take a wrench and remove the broken stud, drill or tap
