Excelloy 55 AC/DC ±

For crack sensitive steels, an exceptional all position electrode for steels requiring a low hydrogen

The Excelloy 55 produces x-ray quality welds with superior impact properties even at subzero temperatures. The proprietary electrode coating eliminates weld porosity and under bead cracking even with sulfur and high phosphorus bearing steels. The additional nickel in this electrode dramatically influences both tensile strength and low temperature ductility.

Applications

For carbon steels, low alloy steels and cast steels. It can be used for both joining and build up. Excellent choice when welding of free machining steels or when overlaying worn parts such as shafts, hubs, or castings prior to machining. The Excelloy 55 is ideal for joining heavy sections that are highly restrained. Outstanding all position operation.

Procedure

Clean and prepare weld zone in accordance with standard welding practice. Maintain short arc length. Vertical joints should be welded from the bottom up using rapid weave or stringer technique for maximum strength. Do not whip.
