Vertical Stainless Steel Electrode

Stainless steel electrode for vertical down welding of austenitic stainless steels. Resistant to intergranular corrosion.

Applications

Vertical down welding for pipelines, sheet metal, and other applications where excellent weld ability is needed.

Procedure

Remove foreign material and unsound metal from surface to be welded. Deposit must be applied as stringer beads. Prevent excessive heat build-up and allow part to cool slowly.

Excelloy Stainex A/AL AC/DC+

Superior electrode designed for use on most common grades of stainless steels

Developed for use on most common grades of stainless steels. Typically used to fabricate and repair food, dairy, and chemical equipment. Particularly good when used on stainless steels: 301, 302, 302B, 305, 308, 308L, 321, 347, and all AISI 200 and 400 types.

Applications

Clean and prepare weld zone in accordance with standard welding practice. Do not preheat base metal. Tack parts to maintain alignment and reduce distortion. Maintain a short or drag arc length as you tilt the electrode 15 degrees in direction of travel. Prevent excessive heat build up by skip welding whenever possible. Remove slag between passes and allow to slow cool.

Excelloy Stainex B/BL AC/DC +

Superior multi-purpose alloy for arc welding carbon to stainless steel

A universal alloy for welding austenitic stainless steels to unalloyed or low alloy steels. Excelloy B/BL provides excellent buffer layers on unalloyed steels prior to joining to austenitic grades. Alloy provides excellent heat resistance and is the best selection for welding 400 series stainless steels.

Procedure

Clean and prepare weld zone in accordance with standard welding practice. Do not preheat base metal. Tack parts to maintain alignment and reduce distortion. Maintain a short of drag arc length as you tilt the electrode 15 degrees in direction of travel. Prevent excessive heat build up by skipping welding whenever possible. Remove slag between passes and allow to slowly cool.

Excelloy Stainex C AC/DC +

Universal high chromium and nickel electrode designed to join a wide range of stainless steels even when chemistry is unknown

This alloy can be used for dissimilar metal welding including steels of high harden ability. Commonly used for the welding of stainless clad steels, joining of chrome-molypiping. Materials exposed to cyclic heating below 800 degrees F (425 degrees C) will be successfully repaired with this product.

Procedure

Prepare weld zone in accordance with standard welding practice. Grind scale and oxidation exposing new material. Operate electrode at lowest effective amperage. Skip weld as much as possible to reduce distortion. Remove slag after weld has cooled.

Excelloy Stainex E/EL AC/DC +

A fully alloyed corrosion resistant stainless alloy

Our Stainex E is a high speed, high deposition rate alloyed electrode designed to produce weld deposits that are extremely resistant to pitting in corrosive environments. The addition of molybdenum in this alloy along with its controlled carbon content make this electrode a perfect choice for use as an overlaying alloy used in corrosive situations.

Applications

Common uses of this electrode include use in the paper, pulp, textile, petroleum, and chemical industries. Large quantities of this alloy are used to protect surfaces from various highly corrosive media. This electrode is your first choice when protecting against corrosion.

Prevent excessive heat build up by skip welding whenever possible. Remove slag between passes and allow to slow cool.

Excelloy 61 AC/DC +

For all ferrous metals, an all position universal high strength alloy for unknown and dissimilar metal

The Excelloy 61 is a low heat input, spray arc transfer electrode that produces exceptional looking weld deposits. The unique flux coating of the Excelloy 61 provides you with the ultimate control when welding in difficult positions, on thin metals, where easy strike and re-strike is critical and where spatter cannot be tolerated.

Applications

This multipurpose alloy can be used on all grades of carbon steel, low alloy steels, stainless steels, tool steels, and high alloy steels. It is corrosion resistant, heat resistant, and has an excellent resistance to cracking. Considering its ease of use and versatility, this electrode is a must for any repair facility.

Procedure

Clean and prepare weld zone in accordance with standard welding practice. Preheat heavy sections and high alloy steels to 400F. Run stringer beads while maintaining a short arc length. To reduce internal stresses on high alloy steels and heavy sections intermittent welding followed by peening is recommended. Allow each pass to cool prior to slag removal.
